The House Appropriations Committee is set to release its first two spending bills for fiscal 2025, with the hope of clearing all 12 before the August recess. The committee will also hold hearings to defend the president’s budget request and regulations. The bills, which will reveal more about new Chair Tom Cole’s strategy, plan to cut nondefense spending by 6 percent while increasing defense spending by 1 percent.
