Senate Legislation Authorizes Army Corps to Enhance Water Infrastructure and Environmental Restoration Nationwide, Prioritizing Disadvantaged Communities.

The US Senate has released legislation authorizing the Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps) to study and implement water infrastructure and environmental restoration projects across the country. The biennial Water Resources Development Act will focus on protecting communities from severe floods and droughts, promoting economic activity at the nation’s ports and protecting disadvantaged communities. The bill includes projects and programs relevant to all 50 states, prioritizing initiatives to help disadvantaged communities and completing certain previously authorized projects. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will mark the bill on Wednesday.
