The Nuclear Company Plans 6-GW Nuclear Fleet in U.S. to Meet Growing Energy Demand and Carbon Goals.

Kentucky-based group, The Nuclear Company, has announced plans to build a 6-GW fleet of nuclear power stations in the US. The company, which is based in Lexington, aims to utilise bipartisan support for nuclear technology and the need to build more baseload, zero-carbon sources of energy. Its business model will include “proven, licensed technology and a design-once, build-many approach” and standardized processes and scheduling to reduce delays and cost. Juliann Edwards, chief development officer for the company, and chair of U.S. Women in Nuclear, said the company’s unique approach integrates proven technology with collaboration among diverse organizations to ensure fleet-scale projects are executed on-time and on-budget. The International Energy Agency predicts global electricity demand will increase nearly 30% by the end of the decade, driven by increased electrification and the rise of artificial intelligence.
