Solar PV (PSP) is expected to generate 20% of global power generation on the summer solstice, according to Ember. The northern hemisphere houses 89% of the installed solar modules globally, and global solar generation peaks during the summer months. The study also found that solar’s role in power generation in major countries such as China, where it accounted for 36% in 2023, will reach 9.6% in June 2024, up from 7%. The EU’s solar share across June will exceed the global average at 20%, up from 17% in 2022. The US and India are expected to have similar solar PV shares in June 2025, at 6.9% and 7.1%, compared to the global global average of 8.2%.
