SkyPower Global, a Canadian developer, has signed a 1GW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) as part of Zambia’s Integrated Renewable Energy Plan. The agreement aims to enhance Zambia’s renewable energy capacity and support sustainable growth. The ceremony marking the deal featured insights from SkyPower country manager Michael Prest and ZESCO managing director Engineer Victor Benjamin Mapani, who emphasized the project’s potential to transform the country’s energy landscape and establish Zambia as a hub for renewable energy in Africa. The 1GW PPA with ZESCO will significantly boost Zambian’s renewable energy, helping the country move closer to achieving its renewable energy goals. The project is also supported by President Hakainde Hichilema, who highlighted the importance of the project in addressing energy needs and increasing industrial productivity.
