RTX Partners with Engie North America for 100% Renewable Energy, Aiming for Significant Emission Reductions by 2030.

Defense industry contractor, RTX (formerly Raytheon), has signed a deal with Engie North America to purchase 100% renewable energy in an effort to reduce emissions by 46% by 2030 from 2019 levels. The deal involves purchasing a mix of wind and solar sources through renewable energy certificates and direct energy purchases, all originating in Texas. The companies did not disclose the financial value of the deal, but it is expected to provide 1.5 million MWh of renewable electricity over the next 10 years, reducing the company’s carbon emissions in Texas by 560,000 metric tons of CO2 over the lifetime of the agreement. The agreement is notable for its size and the potential to stimulate future development of renewable energy projects.
