Rondo Energy and EDP have announced a partnership to offer industrial heat using thermal energy storage. The technology, known as ‘Heat Batteries’, converts intermittent electric power from renewable assets into continuous high-temperature heat. Rondo Energy plans to scale the annual production of its ‘Heatteries’ to 90GWh in June 2023. The partnership is seen as a major business opportunity for EDP for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive clients that use heat in their facilities.
