Trinity is a hydraulic turbine power generation facility located in Lewiston, California, within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) region. The plant operates with a capacity of 140 megawatts and is managed under the Balancing Authority of Northern California, specifically by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). The facility is operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which also holds majority ownership and is the owner holding company. As an unregulated entity, Trinity utilizes water as its primary fuel source, contributing to the region’s renewable energy portfolio.
