Thunderhead is a solar power facility located in Asheboro, North Carolina, within the SERC Reliability Corporation region. With an operating capacity of 1.99 MW, the plant harnesses solar energy to generate electricity. It is managed by Iris 2 Landlord, who also holds majority ownership of the facility. As an unregulated plant, Thunderhead operates independently within the energy market, primarily supplying power to Duke Energy Progress, its main power purchaser.
