Thornwood High School operates a gas-fired internal combustion power plant located in South Holland, Illinois, within the ReliabilityFirst Corporation NERC region. The facility has an operating capacity of 1.4 megawatts and is integrated into the PJM Interconnection power control area. The plant is managed by the Thornton Township High School District No 205, which also serves as the majority owner and holding company. As an unregulated entity, Thornwood High School’s power generation activities are conducted independently of traditional regulatory frameworks, allowing for flexibility in operations and management.
