Thornridge High School operates a gas-fired internal combustion power plant located in Dolton, Illinois, within the ReliabilityFirst Corporation NERC region. The facility has an operating capacity of 1 MW and is integrated into the PJM Interconnection power control area. The plant is managed by the Thornton Township High School District No 205, which serves as both the majority owner and the holding company. As an unregulated entity, Thornridge High School’s power generation activities are not subject to the same regulatory oversight as traditional utility companies, allowing for greater operational flexibility.
