The plant is situated within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) region and is operated by Nevada Power Company, which also holds the majority ownership. The facility is regulated and operates under the jurisdiction of the Nevada Power Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. The primary fuel source for the plant is natural gas, ensuring efficient energy production. Other owners of the Sun Peak Generating Station include Nevada Power Company.
