Sumpter is a gas turbine power plant located in Belleville, Michigan, operating under the jurisdiction of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). With an operating capacity of 375 megawatts, the facility plays a significant role in the energy landscape of the ReliabilityFirst Corporation NERC region. The plant is owned and operated by Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative, which holds the majority ownership. As an unregulated entity, Sumpter leverages natural gas as its primary fuel source, contributing to the region’s energy supply while adhering to operational standards set forth by the cooperative.
