Star Peak Geothermal Plant, located in Imlay, Nevada, operates under the Western Electricity Coordinating Council. With an operating capacity of 21.9 MW, this geothermal facility harnesses the Earth’s natural heat to generate renewable energy. The plant is managed by Open Mountain Energy, which also holds majority ownership and operates as an unregulated entity. Power generated at Star Peak is primarily purchased by the Southern California Public Power Authority, contributing to the region’s sustainable energy goals. The plant plays a vital role in the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s power control area, supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.
