The Southcentral Power Project, located in Anchorage, Alaska, operates under the jurisdiction of the Alaska Systems Coordinating Council within the NERC region. This facility utilizes advanced combined cycle technology, boasting an operating capacity of 203.4 megawatts. The power generated is managed by the Chugach Electric Association, which serves as both the plant operator and majority owner. The project is regulated, ensuring compliance with industry standards and practices. The primary fuel source for the plant is natural gas, contributing to its efficient energy production. Additionally, the Anchorage Municipal Light & Power holds ownership stakes in the facility, further supporting the region’s energy infrastructure.
