The Shawnee solar plant, located in Waynesboro, Georgia, operates under the SERC Reliability Corporation region with a capacity of 2 MW. This unregulated facility harnesses solar energy, utilizing the sun as its primary fuel source. Brookfield Renewable Partners manages the plant, while Duke Energy Generation Services Holding Company holds the majority ownership through its parent company, Duke Energy Corporation. The power generated is primarily purchased by Georgia Power Company, contributing to the region’s renewable energy landscape within the Southern Company power control area.
