Scherer is a coal-fired power plant located in Juliette, Georgia, operating under the regulatory oversight of the SERC Reliability Corporation. With a substantial operating capacity of 2,580 megawatts, the facility utilizes steam turbine technology to generate electricity. The plant is primarily operated by Georgia Power Company and serves the Florida Power & Light Company within its designated power control area. Oglethorpe Power Corporation holds the majority ownership of the plant, which is classified as a regulated entity. In addition to Oglethorpe Power Corporation, other owners include Georgia Power Company, the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, Florida Power & Light Company, and Dalton Utilities.
