Sanborn BESS 1 is a state-of-the-art battery energy storage facility located in Mojave, California, operating under the jurisdiction of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council. With an operating capacity of 100 MW, this facility plays a crucial role in enhancing grid reliability and supporting renewable energy integration within the California Independent System Operator’s power control area. The plant is operated by Terra-Gen, which also holds the majority ownership, alongside its parent company, ECP Continuation Fund. Sanborn BESS 1 is classified as unregulated, allowing for flexible operational strategies in the energy market. Other owners of the power plant include Terra-Gen.
