Salton Sea Power – Unit 5 is a geothermal power plant located in Calipatria, California, within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (NERC Region). With an operating capacity of 46 MW, it plays a significant role in the Imperial Irrigation District’s power control area. The plant is operated by CalEnergy Operating Corporation and is unregulated, with CE Generation as the majority owner. The owner holding company is Berkshire Hathaway. The primary fuel source for the plant is geothermal energy, and its main power purchaser is Calenergy Minerals.
