Rancho Seco Solar II is a solar power facility located in Herald, California, within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council region. With an operating capacity of 160 MW, the plant harnesses solar energy to generate electricity. It is managed by D E Shaw Renewable Investments, which is also the majority owner through its holding company, DESRI. The facility operates in an unregulated environment and serves the Balancing Authority of Northern California, primarily supplying power to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. Utilizing the sun as its fuel source, Rancho Seco Solar II contributes to the region’s renewable energy landscape.
