R C Kirkwood is a hydraulic turbine power generation facility located in Groveland, California, within the jurisdiction of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council. The plant operates with a capacity of 115.5 megawatts and is integrated into the California Independent System Operator’s power control area. The facility is regulated and is wholly owned by the San Francisco City & County of San Francisco, which also serves as the plant operator. Utilizing water as its primary fuel source, R C Kirkwood plays a vital role in the region’s renewable energy landscape.
