Puna Geothermal Venture I is a geothermal power plant located in Pahoa, Hawaii, with an operating capacity of 43 MW. It is situated within the NERC Region of Hawaii and operates under the Hawaiian Electric Company’s power control area. The plant is managed by Puna Geothermal Venture and is unregulated, with Ormat Nevada as the majority owner, part of Ormat Technologies. The primary fuel source for the plant is geothermal energy, and its main power purchaser is Hawaii Electric Light Company.
