Prairie Wind Farm, located in New Sharon, Iowa, operates under the jurisdiction of the Midwest Reliability Organization. This facility utilizes advanced wind turbine technology, boasting an operating capacity of 173.7 megawatts. The power generated is managed within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s control area, ensuring efficient distribution and reliability. The plant is regulated and primarily owned by MidAmerican Energy Company, which is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. In addition to MidAmerican Energy Company, there are other owners associated with the power plant.
