The Pleasant Valley gas turbine power plant, located in Dexter, Minnesota, operates under the Midwest Reliability Organization and has an impressive capacity of 484.5 MW. Managed by Great River Energy, the plant is unregulated and primarily utilizes natural gas as its fuel source, drawing from the Northern Natural Gas Company pipeline. As part of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s power control area, Pleasant Valley plays a crucial role in the regional energy landscape, although it does not have a primary power purchaser. Great River Energy holds majority ownership and operates the facility, ensuring reliable energy production for the surrounding communities.
