Northport is a significant power generation facility located in Northport, NY, operating under the Northeast Power Coordinating Council. The plant utilizes steam turbine technology with an impressive operating capacity of 1593.2 MW. It is part of the New York Independent System Operator’s power control area and is operated by National Grid Generation, which also holds majority ownership. The facility is unregulated and is primarily fueled by gas sourced from the Iroquois Gas Transmission System. The Long Island Power Authority is the primary purchaser of the electricity generated at this plant, which is owned by National Grid plc.
