Northern Wind is a wind turbine power plant located in Lake Wilson, Minnesota, within the Midwest Reliability Organization region. With an operating capacity of 100 MW, it plays a vital role in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s power control area. The plant is operated and majority-owned by Northern States Power Company, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, which also serves as the primary power purchaser. As a regulated facility, Northern Wind harnesses wind energy to contribute to the region’s renewable energy goals.
