Magnolia Power Plant, located in Ashland, Mississippi, operates under the SERC Reliability Corporation region. This unregulated facility utilizes combined cycle technology and has an impressive operating capacity of 999 MW. The plant is owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which also serves as its majority owner and holding company. Fueled by natural gas, Magnolia Power Plant sources its gas from the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company. The plant plays a crucial role in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s power control area, although it does not have a primary power purchaser.
