Lonesome Creek Station is a gas turbine power plant located in Alexander, North Dakota, within the Midwest Reliability Organization region. With an operating capacity of 270 MW, it plays a significant role in the Southwest Power Pool’s power control area. The plant is operated and majority-owned by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, which also serves as its holding company. As an unregulated facility, Lonesome Creek Station utilizes natural gas as its primary fuel source, sourcing it through the Northern Border Pipeline Company. Currently, there are no primary power purchasers associated with the plant.
