The plant operates with a capacity of 4.9 megawatts and is managed by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which also serves as the majority owner and holding company. As part of the California Independent System Operator’s power control area, Lake Mathews utilizes water as its primary fuel source. The facility currently operates under an unregulated status, contributing to the region’s energy supply while aligning with sustainable practices.
