Great Bend – Sunflower is a steam turbine power generation facility located in Great Bend, Kansas, within the Midwest Reliability Organization (NERC) region. The plant operates with a capacity of 99.8 megawatts and is part of the Southwest Power Pool power control area. The facility is managed by Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, which also serves as its owner holding company. The majority ownership is held by Mid-Kansas Electric Company INC. Operating under an unregulated status, the plant utilizes gas as its primary fuel source, contributing to the region’s energy supply and reliability.
