Five Points BESS is a state-of-the-art battery energy storage system located in Asheboro, North Carolina. Operating under the SERC Reliability Corporation NERC region, this facility boasts an operating capacity of 5 MW. It is integrated within the PJM Interconnection power control area, enhancing grid reliability and efficiency. The plant is operated by the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation, which also serves as the majority owner and holding company. As an unregulated facility, Five Points BESS utilizes energy storage technology to provide flexible and responsive power solutions, contributing to the region’s energy landscape.
