The Equinix Caspian Dr. Fuel Cell facility, located in Sunnyvale, California, operates within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) region. This state-of-the-art plant utilizes advanced fuel cell technology, boasting an operating capacity of 4.8 megawatts. It is integrated into the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) power control area, ensuring efficient management of electricity supply and demand. The facility is operated by the 2016 Esa Project Company, which also holds majority ownership, under the umbrella of The Southern Company. As an unregulated entity, the plant leverages gas as its primary fuel source, contributing to the region’s energy landscape with a focus on sustainable and reliable power generation.
