Chief Joseph is a hydraulic turbine power plant located in Bridgeport, Washington, within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) region. With an impressive operating capacity of 2,456.2 megawatts, the facility plays a significant role in the energy landscape of the Bonneville Power Administration’s power control area. The plant is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – North Pacific Division, which also holds majority ownership. As an unregulated facility, Chief Joseph utilizes water as its primary fuel source, contributing to sustainable energy production in the region.
