Cane Run is a combined cycle power plant located in Louisville, Kentucky, within the SERC Reliability Corporation region. With an operating capacity of 689 MW, it plays a crucial role in the power control area managed by LG&E and KU Energy. The plant is operated by the Louisville Gas and Electric Company and is regulated under state guidelines. The majority ownership lies with Kentucky Utilities Company, which is part of the PPL Corporation holding company. Fueled by natural gas, Cane Run relies on the Texas Gas Transmission pipeline for its gas supply, although it does not have a primary power purchaser.
