Big Bend Dam, located in Lower Brule, South Dakota, operates under the jurisdiction of the Midwest Reliability Organization. This facility utilizes hydraulic turbine technology to achieve an operating capacity of 520 megawatts. It is integrated into the Southwest Power Pool power control area, ensuring efficient management and distribution of generated electricity. The dam is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USCE) – Missouri River District, which also serves as the majority owner and holding company.
