Ocean Man First Nation partners with Saturn Power for CA$200 million Iyuhána Solar project in Saskatchewan.

The Iyuhána Solar partnership, led by independent power producer Saturn Power, the Ocean Man First Nation and GSI, will build a 100MW solar project in Saskatchewan. The partnership plans to invest roughly CA$200 million into the project construction and will also receive special training to maintain the facility. Ocean Man will also have an ownership stake in the project. The project will be named Iyahána solar, which in Nakotah translates to ‘everyone’ or ‘all of us’, a concept that follows the belief that everyone and everything is related. The Ontario government’s Electrification and Energy Transition Panel has suggested collaboration with First Nations communities will be a key part of its energy transition.
