Energy and Natural Resources Chair Joe Manchin has released draft permitting legislation, the “Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024”, aimed at making it easier for renewable and conventional energy projects. The bill includes new limits on litigation and language opposing the Biden administration’s pause on liquefied natural gas export approvals. It is unclear whether the bill will garner broader support from either party. Manchin hopes for a markup before August recess.
