Lancaster Approves Major Green Hydrogen Facility, Boosting Sustainable Energy and Emissions Reduction Efforts in the Region.

The City of Lancaster, California, has approved Element Resources Inc’s green hydrogen production facility project, the Lancaster Clean Energy Center, a major step towards sustainable energy and emissions reduction in the region. The project will consist of two sites spanning 1,338 acres, with ground-mounted solar farms generating over 650 MW to power the hydrogen production. The facility will include 400 MW of alkaline electrolysers and storage tanks for liquefied and gaseous hydrogen, with an initial capacity to produce more than 20,000 tonnes of renewable green hydrogen annually. Chart Industries Inc has been contracted to supply equipment for the facility, with commissioning expected in 2026. The approval follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Element Resources and the city last year, indicating a commitment to green energy initiatives in Lancaster.
