IEA Report: Solar Installations Surge 50%, Clean Energy Deployments Must Triple by 2030 to Cut Emissions.

IEA has released a report titled the Net Zero Scenario, which looks at the growth of renewable energy in the last two years. Solar installations have increased by nearly 50% and are exceeding the forecast in its 2021 report, while electric vehicle sales and battery energy storage systems are also increasing. The report also noted that through 2030, the solar PV manufacturing announcements that have been made will be sufficient to meet deployment demand if they all come to fruition. The IEA Roadmap said that by 2030, clean energy deployments will need to triple under its Net Zero scenario, with the potential to drive a 25% reduction in emissions this decade. Global module production capacity could be on track to tip 1TW in 2024 after doubling this year, and more still needs to be done. Investment into transmission and grid infrastructure is also essential to the rollout of low-emissions energy, and the report also examines the other large-scale fuel supplies that will be needed for net zero.
