House Republicans Demand Investigation into Sunnova’s Alleged Aggressive Sales Tactics Amid Consumer Protection Concerns.

The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Republican members have expressed outrage over the Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office (LPO) over alleged aggressive sales tactics employed by contractors of national residential solar companies. The joint letter was sent to highlight the aggressive sales techniques employed by Sunnova, which has been subject to lawsuits from state attorneys general in Arizona, New Mexico, and Connecticut, largely due to these tactics. The letter also details allegations of unethical sales practices from a Sunnova contractor. The Committee requested all documents related to Sunnova’s loan approval, previous sales complaints, consumer protection measures, and financial status. Sunnova responded by reaffirming their commitment to Project Hestia, a project intended to provide access to solar and virtual power plant services for disadvantaged communities.
