EPA to Announce Clean Car Rule Aiming for Two-Thirds of New Vehicles to Be Electric by 2032

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to unveil a clean car rule next week, which could result in two-thirds of new passenger vehicles sold in 2032 running on electricity. The agency has invited environmental and public health groups to an event with Administrator Micheal Regan to discuss the rule. The regulation is part of the Biden administration’s campaign to address climate change, as transportation is the biggest source of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases, and passenger cars and trucks account for most of these emissions.
