Environmental Groups and Steel Manufacturers Clash in Court Over New EPA Air Pollution Regulations Update.

Environmental groups and integrated iron and steel manufacturers are in court over updated EPA hazardous air pollution rules. One lawsuit by Ohio-based Cleveland-Cliffs is brought before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which also includes Pittsburgh-based United States Steel. Earthjustice has also filed a separate challenge on behalf of other environmental groups. The regulatory update for the industry was the first in over two decades and is predicted to eventually reduce soot and toxic metal emissions from eight mills by almost 540 tons annually.
