Canadian Solar Opens 5-GW Texas Factory, Boosting PV Module Production and Creating 1,500 Jobs.

Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) has officially opened its 5-GW factory in Mesquite, Texas, for assembling Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) photovoltaic (PV) modules. The new plant was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by local city and county representatives, clients and partners. The factory has the capacity to manufacture around 20,000 PV modules per day and employ a 1,500-strong workforce. The overall investment for the project was estimated at USD 250 million (EUR 231.5m). Canadian Solar also plans to establish a 5- GW solar cell production base in Indiana and has a framework agreement to supply modules to Sol Systems in the period 2024-2025.
