Zero-Emission Buses Surge 75% in North America, Fuel Cell Technology Gains Momentum Amid Growing Environmental Interest.

The number of zero-emission buses (ZEBs) in the United States and Canada has increased by over 75 percent over the past year, indicating a growing interest in fuel cell technology. While battery-electric buses still outnumber fuel cell electric buses, the number of FCEBs increased by more than 75 percent, signifying a larger interest in the technology. The number of full-size transit ZEBs in the US has grown to 6,147 as of September 2023. California continues to lead the U.S. state with the most Zebs adopted, while New York saw the largest increase in full-sized transit Z EBs. The Federal Transit Administration awarded more than $300 million to U.,S. transit agencies in 2023 to support needed infrastructure for zero emission projects.
