Young climate activists seek Supreme Court intervention after losing landmark climate challenge against federal government.

A group of young climate activists who lost a landmark climate challenge against the federal government are using a legal tactic to persuade the Supreme Court to revive their case. The Oregon-based law firm representing the young climate advocates, Our Children’s Trust, has filed a petition for a writ of mandamus, which aims to force a federal appeals court to reverse the youths’ loss. Environmental lawyers have warned the young activists against bringing the case to the high court due to concerns that the conservative majority could use this case to stifle other climate lawsuits.
