X-energy Reactor Co., a startup developing miniature nuclear reactors, has raised $700 million in Series D funding. The investment was led by Jane Street, with participation from over ten other institutional investors. X-Energy is developing a miniature nuclear reactor called the Xe-100, which uses a specialized fuel called TRISO-X and plans to manufacture at a plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The company claims that the reactor can operate continuously for two decades. The funding will be used to expand its supply chain, finance the construction of its fuel manufacturing facility, and establish new partnerships.
