Wealthy nations fail to reach agreement on public funding for oil and gas projects amid U.S. indecision.

A meeting among some of the world’s wealthiest countries ended without a decision on restricting public funding for international oil and gas projects. Green groups argue this could shift billions of dollars away from support for fossil fuel development. The delay is due to the lack of clear support from the United States. Activists argue that the U.S. position can make or break an agreement with other major fossil fuel financiers, such as South Korea and Japan, who tend to follow the lead in negotiations.
