Walmart Expands Solar Initiatives with New Texas PPA and 19 Projects Across Five States for Community Benefit.

Walmart has secured a PPA in Texas for solar PV plant in the state of Texas, with EDPR NA, and has invested in 19 solar projects across the US, including 15 community solar projects. The retail giant partnered with renewables developer Pivot Energy through a tax equity investment for the construction, operation, and maintenance of these projects. These projects are located across five states, Illinois, Colorado, Maryland, Delaware, and California, with the combined capacity expected to reach 72MW. The projects in Colorado will be specifically designed to serve low and moderate-income households. This is not the first time Walmart has entered the community solar market, as it signed a deal with developer Nexamp to buy energy credits from 23 community projects in 2021.
