Valero Energy Joins $8 Billion CO2 Pipeline Project to Decarbonize Ethanol Industry Across Five Midwest States

Ethanol producer Valero Energy is joining a $8 billion carbon dioxide pipeline project in the Midwest, providing a significant boost to the project. Eight Valero ethanol plants will supply trapped CO2 to the development, which is intended to transport and store emissions from nearly 60 facilities across five states. The addition of Texas-based Valero adds to the momentum for the project, which aims to decarbonize the ethanol industry in the region. The project will cover parts of Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota.
