The US Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business network and nation’s top lobbying spender, is suing the EPA over its rule designating two “forever chemicals” as hazardous under the Superfund law. The petition was filed in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. This is believed to be the first lawsuit against the rule, which experts predict will attract significant challengers. The Chamber’s vice president of environmental affairs, Chuck Chaitovitz, has called for EPA to reconsider the designation and instead pursue other effective approaches to clean up legacy PFOA and PFOS sites.
